On the other end of the spectrum we have quite a mature expression with noted bricking. The nose is very mature and developed of autumnal leaves, old furniture, cherry, black cherry, roasted squash, roasted tomato, and lots of cured meat. While it sat in the glass some fruit began to poke through and it's sweetened up a touch. The palate reveals a kiss of tannin and a very refreshing amount of high acid. The finish is actually quite lovely showing mostly red fruit and mature secondary notes.

- Brick color with medium forming legs and aromas of fig and oak. It's balanced and has flavours of licorice anise, menthol and eucalyptus with a medium/full body. Flabby texture with a medium finish.

Pop/pour. The cork was soaked all the way through and gave off aromas of port. Fortunately, the wine seemed unaffected. On the nose, dark fruit, wood with a slight cedar tinge and surprisingly something that comes across faintly as eucalyptus. On the palate, medium heavy in body and surprisingly rich. Nicely balanced and largely resolved acidity keeps this lively. My sense is that this is drinking at or near its peak. Whether the cork contributed to an earlier evolution, I'm not sure.

check this out, opened a 375 last saturday of this cuz i was alone and headed to NY, nice wine enjoyed, maybe 91... gassed it and put into fridge, noticed it last nite (friday, so 6 days later), popped it open and it was fantastic... rich but not cloying, beautiful fruit but some dusty textured spice and almost a little savory to go with the sweet fruit... made my son try it and he agreed (and he doesn't really like red wine at this point)... fantastic... makes me wonder whether this could be better in 10 years... don't think of brunello that way but who knows
