  • Finally starting to come around. Showing maturity but given how much it keeps evolving in the glass, I would say that there's no hurry to drink up.
Black and red berries, and with time strawberries and liqourice/salmiak. Well integrated fruit and stringent tannins. Best with food.

  • Last of 4 bottles purchased on close out in 2018. None have lived up to other CT tasters notes (and given this is a Brunello, not Caymus, I don't think I would be an outlier) and my expectations of this wine relative to tasting in 2 other vintages around a similar age. Assume my bottle was not stored properly for a period of time before it go to me as this wine was tired so keep that in mind relative to my note.

Brownish/red color. On nose, leather, dried blackberry, dried cherry and mushrooms. Medium+ body, medium+ acidity, medium tannins and long finish. Palate had similar flavor profile to nose. While I don't expect bright fruit at age 12, this wine's nose/palate was on the dry, almost stewed spectrum. Rated this a 91+/- despite note above. Will continue to buy this wine in future, but upon release!

  • By no means young but still showing good life, nice secondary flavors. Good value

  • This vintage is showing well after 10 years. Decanted for several hours, with very little sediment. Ruby/garnet, medium (+) intensity. The nose is clean with black cherries, forest floor, mocha, leather. The nose is medium (+) in intensity, moderately complex and developing. The palate is dry, but with generous sweet fruit right up front, balanced by nice acidity. The alcohol is high, at 14.5% but relatively unobtrusive. The tannins are smooth and rounded, medium to medium (+). The mouthfeel is smooth. This is a nicely balanced wine, which is full-bodied yet retains a certain grace, with a medium (+) flavor intensity and a moderately long finish. It is drinking beautifully now, but should have at least another 3-5 years left.
