Super dark color. Plums, brown spice, meat, a little coffee, and vanilla on the nose. Plums and black currant with a touch of vanilla on the pallet. Decent tannins with the only flaw (if you can call it that) is the lack of acidity making it too "round." Nice length. Excellent wine. Give it 2 hours to breathe.

Good extract on the palate - but a one-trick pony lacking depth. Lots of chewy chocolate-driven dark fruits. Dense but simple and loosing intensity on the back palate. OK, but the Prima is a better option at this price point.

Tasted January 10, 2007 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Meaty nose with some notes of currants and brown spice. Flavors of black berries and black currants. Medium acidity with huge tannins. Medium to full bodied. I’d recommend holding 1-2 years to see if the tannins resolve a bit.

This has aged really well. The first thing that hit me was the bacon fat on the nose. Great complexity of dark fruit and deep earth. Very surprising.
