A terroir that I often think doesn't deliver on its Grand Cru status but this vintage drunk out of a perfect magnum is absolutely singing tonight. It has that zen-like texture of a fully mature Burgundy and it went down the gullet like cashmere. Layered and fine with just the right touch of sous bois along with delicious subdued dark cherry fruit and the perfect lick of minerals. Just fabulous! Thanks Paul! At the Union Club.

Drink at La Vague d’Or Nose : discreet hint of earthiness and sand wood no weakness alcohol keeping everything Mouth: high acidity nice earthiness full body because of acidity. Not too much fruit anymore some cherries and plums. Final : short not too much to say. Nice but far from outstanding

M&M lunch at Summer Pavilion. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of tea leaves, leafy earth, dark red cherries. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium body that puts on more weight with more air. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of savoury earth and nice red fruits – strawberry, cherries, plums, sweet tea leaves. Long finish. Lovely. Very good quality. Still very alive and good freshness I felt. Elegant but puts on more weight with air.

Very elegant and ethereal without much substance left so it's a matter of how old you like your Burgundy. This is subtle but very fine with a light complexity on the finish showing notes of forest floor and cherry remnants. At 11 Madison.
