Deep color, blackberries and black cherries in the nose with hints of licorice and coffee. Lots of black and blue fruits in the flavor. Well balanced, medium to full bodied and a medium to long finish.
Very clearly still a young, tightly wound wine. Decanted nearly an hour before first sip, aromatics were on full display, floral, fruity, herbal, all front and center. Wow. That first taste, though, the tannins had yet to subside, seriously obscuring the fruit. After about another 30 minutes, that beautiful Napa reddish black fruit started to come through and drank very nicely with my F-1 Australian wagyu strip steak.
A longer initial decant would have clearly been better, but still, it was quite a beauty. Patience will definitely be rewarded.
the most perplexing wine at the thanksgiving feast so tart like uncooked cranberries but a long finish made this alluring tannins not as settled as the Hall had at the same sitting wonder what the next bottle will taste like

Been a year since my last bottle. I said then I'd wait 2 years til the next, but I just couldn't. Gave this bottle a 3 hour decant and it was singing. Beautiful Bdx nose of cab franc herbs and florals and palate feel of velour like merlot. Classic graphite, florals and orange peel on the nose. Dark red cherry fruit on the palate with perfectly balanced tannins and acidity. Very together as most '14s are right now and very enjoyable. Carol lamented that it was 'gone to soon'. Glad there's more in the cellar for later!

Still young yet - needed more air than I gave it, but clearly can go another decade. Great balance.
