Much more of the Bordeaux varietals on the nose (40% of the blend is evenly divided between Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc). Cassis, tobacco, tomato leaf, and a hint of perceptible oak. The palate has more of the Tannat character, with powerful grip and a hint of iron that I usually associate with the varietal, punctuated by dark fruit and spice. This is quality wine for a good price, but lacks some typicité.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour with some friends while we played pool. The 2018 pours a dark garnet with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark fruit: black plum, cassis, tobacco, cocoa, ferrous minerals, gentle, dried cool spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. Masculine and pretty impressive value. I would imagine this would be a solid paring with cassoulet. Drink now and through 2028.
