  • Pour rappel, le millésime 2003 a été caniculaire en France.
    Robe encore assez peu évoluée, a perdu de son bleuté mais reste encore très jeune, seule une frange aqueuse laisse deviner son âge.
    Au nez le vin délivre des effluves de cèdre, cassis, pruneau, poussière, cuir, tabac... aucune sensation d’alcool ni de raisin confit ou cuit, plutôt bon signe pour ce millésime atypique.
    En bouche, un jus au toucher étonnamment suave mais aux tanins quelque peu rêches en milieu de bouche. Notes mentholées (héritage d’un noble élevage), un jus solaire équilibré par une fraîcheur bienvenue, toutefois entâchée par une légère astringence en finale. À boire assez frais 16°C, un plaisir en demie teinte. De 89/100 à 90/100 après ouverture et aération de 3 heures.

  • Opened and poured. Plum, fairly complex. On the fleshy and ripe side, but still balanced. It is very enjoyable now. I do not think it will improve. I wrote without having looked at my previous note. Fairly consistent. There is indeed some complexity, but not a lot for a Bordeaux. Clearly, if you can find it for about 25 €, it is worth it. As a background note, it is my experience that contrarily to most vintages, 2003 should not be opened nor decanted in advance.

  • The nose is ripe, nearly sweet but displays quite some freshness. In the mouth, it is broad, fleshy. It does linger on the palate for quite some time. Plums, some tannin's also. Quite enjoyable with "bavette". It is very easy to drink. More complexity would be welcome. No reason to wait drinking it. It is perfectly mature.
