Colour: medium(+) ruby Nose: medium(+) intensity, tertiary, developing. Red plum, red cherry, maybe even strawberry. Cassis, bramble. Black peppercorns. Meaty, savoury. Leather. Wet stone, crushed rock, warm earth. Garrigue. Cedar? Palate: dry, medium(+) tannins (but so smooth and fine-grained!), medium acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium bodied. Medium(+) intensity, medium(+) length finish. Red plum, red cherry, maybe even strawberry. Cassis, bramble. Black peppercorns. Meaty, savoury. Leather. Wet stone, crushed rock, warm earth. Garrigue. Cedar? Conclusions: very good! Can drink now, but suited to further ageing. P&P (not decanted), purchased retail recently. Seal: natural cork DAY 2: still drinking very nicely. Lots of fresh red fruit to the fore, and maybe some balsamic vinegar -- acidity is maybe a little more prominent than yesterday. Quite light and delicate by Syrah standards. Lovely.

Very much enjoyed with Sicilian chicken stew. Red meat and iron qualities that paired well with the stew. Good balance but not a complex or profound wine. In good window now with no clear upside to further cellaring

This ticks all the boxes for Syrah; it's cool, crunchy, savoury, peppery, slightly meaty, seemingly at the beginning of a plateau of maturity, but it just doesn't spark my interest and I can't quite articulate why. Reminds me of those new Pax wines, they're good but I don't need any in my cellar. On a related note, this is apparently the last bottle I ever purchased from Garagiste.

Drinking well enough now as a decent Rhone Syrah, but has little depth of character that you’d want from a Cornas

Still very nice. Good fruit, nice balance and a silky finish.
