Fuller bodied and quite tannic with just the slightest perfume nose. Definitely on the bigger side for Marlborough. At a tasting this was described as 'the party girl' Giesen Pinot and certainly fits that bill. I personally like this style and would also love to come back to this in a few years when a little tamer.

This review is from Sam Kim of Wine Orbit And I could not say it better 96 points It is beautifully fragrant on the nose displaying dark cherry, plum and game characters with nuances of cedary oak and mixed spice. The palate is concentrated and supple with outstanding mid palate weight and texture, leading to an extremely long attractive finish. Tannins are fine and in abundance, providing excellent structure to this flavoursome, engaging pinot.

Horizons of Marlborough Winemaking (SITT 2015): A rather more serious nose than the Clayvin pinot noir. It has a richer feel than the Clayvin, with less polish and delicacy. Much juicier, riper feeling fruit on the palate. Then it becomes quite chunky with firmish tannins.

Pinotpalooza (Carriageworks, Redfern): cherries and berries, sweet spice but a little tart and tight on the plate. Meh.

Six nations tasting (pyrmont wharf, sydney): very slight stalks over black fruit, slight liquorice, cedar…juicy, bit sour with drying tannins. Meh.
