  • I showed up properly dressed , ferragamos and all, and the somm tried to talk me out of it, ‘too young, not the best use of your money’. But when I told him I wanted to pair it with a Tremblay Vosne VV of the same vintage he relented, reluctantly. Guess tonight my je ne sais quoi wasn’t working so well. I suppose he was husbanding his resources. Keep in mind my introduction to Bizot was at your restaurant after all (many moons ago)
N - fantastic nose. Compote of wild strawberries and ripe cherry plums. earthy, black tea
M - sexy fruit, singing, again wild strawberry, spritely, with a raw sour quality that gives it great verve. Tasted immediately great out of the gate, far from too young, and to boot didnt appreciably approve with airtime. Has some elements of a natural wine, said in the most positive connotation, though a price-y proposition for that. Excellent for Echezeaux though not sure I’d have ever guessed the terroir as here the winemaking seems to be the dominant force.

  • PNP into Spiegelau Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Pale bright ruby to the eyes.

Divine nose of organic purplish ruby wild berries, so perfumed and amazingly fresh and delicious. Petite florals and to me this is quite unique with its purple cassis notes which is rare among Bizot’s wine.

A lot of dry extracts again, super finely textured tannins with a ton of inner energy. Just wow.

What a regal wine. So much more to give here and a very different profile to the amazing 2010 Jachees tasted. 96-97 points.

Second pour, 3/5 left, 1 hour in: Just the most divine set of red cherries ever… so seamless and what an amazingly enjoyable wine… upgrade to 97 points.

Third pour, 2/5 left, 2 hours in: Just O.M.G. on the nose here…

Fourth pour, 1/5 left, 3 hours in: Getting even better with a lot more than “cherry cola” notes… so much to offer here. Hard to describe how complex and complete this wine is…

  • Slightly hazy. Ruby red. Exceptionally floral nose. The intensity of the roses and violets was incredible. It also developed savoury notes with time. Medium bodied. Fresh vibrancy. Dusty tannins. Some stalkiness. Palate is leaner than the nose. This is a great young wine. Would love to try in 5-10 years. From TL

  • Very potent, yet way too young at this point.

  • Domaine Bizot Collection Wine Dinner: 1042 bottles, 19 magnums made.

Bottle uncorked in advance and poured into small white wine glasses acting as decanters for the guests. Assessed via Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Pale ruby with purplish hues.

Nicely integrated spectrum of red and black bramble fruits. Leafy and a little more sous bois / soy aromas. Not super dense and deep but I love this nose - reminds me of the Le Chapitre 2013 tasted earlier in the year.

Almost ready to drink? Very enjoyable now though will benefit for another 3-5 years for a more mellow structure. A little more acidic though overall still very balanced.

    94-95 points.
