Opened in August 2017 and tasted several times during these 14 months. After two months it really began to shine. Every time we taste it, it gives utmost enjoyment with it's etherical qualities.

Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Beze event; 9/11/2015-9/12/2015 (Capella Hotel Georgetown): Incredibly intense nose of dry apricot, apricot marmalade, dry orange peel, VA via nail polish that adds nice complexity, a hint of petrol, tobacco and spicy spices. Even after almost 150 years, still displaying formidable concentration and incredible scale, still quite sweet, opulent fruits, mouth puckering acidities, a hint of sherry and unbelievably long finish. There is no double that this will last another hundred years. Truly a mindboggling wine.

My first of two bottles I have of this, opened with a good friend, albeit a friend that I haven't known all that long. Double Decanted about 6 hours in advance, I wish it had been much longer (days/weeks). For a Malvasia, I thought it was a little less sweet than I was expecting, with good acidity, but also a slightly bitter finish that caused the whole finish to be a little clipped. Excellent, but not exceptional.

Decanted for a bout 2-hrs. Deep, dark mahogany color. Incredibly complex nose and flavor with notes of woodspice, varnish, caramel, orange rind, walnuts, raisins, etc. Then so deep and complex with an incredibly thick, viscous texture. The finish is endless and spellbinding with a complexity of flavors that may not be achievable by any other kind of wine. On the sweet side but absolutely perfectly mature with plenty of balancing acidity to keep it fresh. Just an incredibly showing.

1875 Barbeito Malvazia; Golden with orange hue, absolutely seductive nose, amazing layers, bananas, flowers and fruits, dried and fresh, with raisins and nuts, subtle and elegant. Playful acidity, gorgeous balance, almost transparent texture, amazing length. 97

(Barbeito Madeira Malvazia) Very dark brown color, more opaque than the 1895 D'Olveiras Malvasia, with clear meniscus; earthy, roasted coffee nose with lots of VA; tart, coffee, lemon palate with good acidity; long finish
