Really good bones to this wine - maybe starting to enter a shut down phase (or maybe needed to be open longer). Beautifully floral at first with red cherry profile; approaching more sour cherry with good brambly spice notes I associate with Bize. I would probably give this another 3-5 years before revisiting to let the structure resolve and more development to occur.

Burgs under $100: Lovely archetypal Burg. Guessed 17 as it was a young, yet charming wine. New style of Burgundy with gentler extraction focusing on freshness. Pure fruit of red cherries, great depth already.

Nose: It takes a small bit to get going, but patience is rewarded as the fruit goes in a more sour direction with raspberries, cranberries, and dark red cherries accompanied by tones of violets, savory herbs, spice notes, and some crushed rocks. There is very good depth already and this begins to hit another gear about 3 hours in.
Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. There is a lot of youth to the feel, but with poise and balance backed up by tones of raspberries, cranberries, violets, savory herbs, spice notes, and crushed rocks.
Overall: While this is lovely now, there is plenty more it will give in about 5+ years. I love the freshness and slightly sour quality to the fruit while this shows excellent balance and depth.

Obviously very young but wanted an early look at 17 Bize 1ers while the 17s are still in this charming phase. An airy and cool mountain like nose with some rose petal that softens the slightly stern profile. A bit bundled up on the palate, fruit leaning dark cranberry and very mineral like iron but again soft at the edges with a rose water like subtle perfume. Charming but buttoned up, still showing some flourish. Excited for Bize 17s, a bit more old school than the previous few vintages.
