  • Pulled the cork an hour before dinner. Drank along side a 2016 Vieux Telegraph La Crau. Poured small glasses of the Vieux Telegraph first which had been in the glasses 20 minutes.

Next small pours of Bosquet which was 100% Grenache and much darker & youner tasting. Decided to decant & go back to the VT.

After a 30 minute decant the wine was more approachable. I still think this needs a 60-90 minute decant. Riper fruit style with more sweetness than the VT. Dark cherries & red fruits with earthiness. Very enjoyable but not as layered or complex compared to the VT. If you’re drinking this by itself you will be quite happy as the wine is excellent.

  • My first experience with Bosquet des Papes, and it won’t be my last. After a two-hour decant, the Grenache nose offers sweet rhubarb, boysenberry, wet gravel, sandalwood. The palate soars, showing rich and concentrated red fruit that remains light on its feet. A bit hot on the back palate, but has enough fruit to complement the alcohol.

  • Delicious. Very fruit forward, fresh raspberries and baked cherries. Somewhat light tannin, decently long finish.

  • Quite a surprise how very good this wine is as I’ve never had it before. 90 minute decant. Dark purple color. Surprisingly smooth with no rough edges at all. No over the top sweetness. It is quite dry. Lots of flavor layers but the wine is subtle & not overbearing. Still lots of flavor packed in a velvet glove. Can’t wait until my next bottle. Can go many more years but why wait?

  • 90 minute decant. Nose shows rustic red fruits, Chambord, and kirsch. Fairly dry red fruits on the palate with earth, leathery tannins, and peppery notes. Clay adds itself to the firm tannins on the finish wit spicy red fruit and a touch of oak, but the finish seems to flab out. Came off as a fairly standard CdP at this tasting.
