Community Tasting Notes (19) Avg Score: 90.6 points

  • Ordered from a restaurant's wine list, this bottle was splash-decanted by our sommelier and serially tasted at the table over the ensuing 90 minutes. Continually improving throughout the tasting interval, it can be said that this is a wine deserving of far more aeration than what it received. A deep ruby blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre (with the remaining 5% comprised of Counoise, Muscardin, Vaccarèse and Cinsault), it flaunts an attractive aromatic profile of red bramble fruits, Montmorency cherries, Provençal herbs, black olives, allspice and loamy earth. Medium-bodied, fresh, proportionately oaked and with plentiful sweet tannins, it delivers flavors in line with the aromas, retaining density in the middle and keeping its 15% alcohol in check. Finishing long and smooth, this is a terrific Châteauneuf that should evolve beautifully over the next decade. It likely would have merited a higher score if given more air. Drink now-2034.

  • Olives, cherries, herbs, leather in the background. Smooth, balanced, good food wine. Very nice. Not a lot of complexity yet but very drinkable now.

  • Nose: Leather, blueberries, herbs, gravel, chocolate.

Palate: Soft entry, light fruit, slight tannin. Quite dry mid-palate with light fruit. Acidity feels a bit unintegrated.

  • Needed about 2hrs to open up. Cherries and dark fruit with earth and some spice. Nice acidity and fine tannins. Quite enjoyable with some roast lamb
