Open in the bottle for about two hours. Nose is a bit poopy, earthy, green leaves, gravel and graphite. Palate is a bit more straightforward with strawberry compote, barely ripe plums, tomato leaf, more gravel. Tons of tannins, not quite in balance yet with the acidity (though it’s close) but hard to tell if it’s getting better or worse. In a great place right now though with a mushroom risotto and a braised beef cheek, so I say drink it up.

Lovely perfume, red fruit, cherry, tar, oak and some herbs. Less tannic than in the past. Delicious with our free-range, roast, herbal chicken. And with the local, farm potatoes with herbs.
I believe this is our last bottle. It is always good to go out in a blaze of glory.
Great QPR for the original price of $16-$22 / bottle.

Hard to believe this was the last of our '06. Still holding on pretty well, but you should consume within 24 hours or so after opening. We are fans of La Vieille Cure and in an off year for Bordeaux the '06 offered both quality and value. If you are holding on to a few bottles - I would consider moving up your consumption plans sooner than later.

Red fruit, earth, some herbs. This bottle is on the decline. Still delicious with the faux chicken dish.
