  • Rich, layered, long, spicy, earthy... aromas of dark cherry, plum, a touch of prune, orange candy, spices galore, roses, smoldering iron, licorice... supple and full on the palate almost velvety, it may get there... spicy, exotic, powerful. Long finish, dark and spicy, with lots of sweet fruit to buffer significant tannins. There is so much on the surface, this is simply gorgeous today, but it is obvious that a deep and not yet penetrable structural core rules its present existence. This will unfold slowly for a couple decades. I would wait for another 5+ before trying again.... LOL, "deep and not yet penetrable structural core" ridiculous.... this is really good, ok

  • Tannins profound finesse grained and plenty, but pleasant to enjoy already now. Wine flavors more dark and rustic and not so much Verduno style. No oak, tar or medical - more dry roses. High acidity.

Nearly 50 bottles of Fratelli 2016 Barolo in stock, so I do trust this will be much better some years from now.

  • I believe I expêcted a little more finesse here, as a true Barolo and Nebbiolo lover and from this side of the area, I expected a lighter wine, although it has a real depth and a real potential it dose not show the best ethereal character of the Nebbiolo from Verduno, or la Morra, knowing the area and some stylish lighter style, I probably felt a bit disappointed, this said the wine shows nice dark berries and some minty/menthol Character, no wood at all and ha s a great length and body, tannins well present in the front of the mouth, a nice ending on both saltiness and Umami letting us imagining the best after cellaring.

  • Very similar to the normale — but notably deeper and slightly darker fruit. This is a powerful wine. Perfect blend of richness and structure. Long finish. One of the better 2016s I’ve tried so far. Highly recommended.
