Had this with MJP and wives in Houston. Very nice of MJP to host. I adore this wine, but was a bit more skeptical of the 2020 vintage. Long story short, it still manages to pull the concentration and acidity together and make a really terrific chard, but it's not quite up there with 18 or 19 from recent memory. Very pure, with great depth and a bit of a cutting acidic edge, it still needs time to integrate the oak and other elements, but should be singing in a few years. Definitely decant this white.
My first Kongsgaard The Judge. Generously shared by Cristal 2000. I’ve seen the label and I’ve heard the hype. I’ve been pretty meh on California Chardonnay until as of late. I consider myself more of a Chablis guy but I’ve had some offerings that are changing my mind. The Judge has a good amount of body and oak but somehow manages not to be overdone.
It would be interesting to try this wine with a good amount of bottle age. Assuming that these wines age well. Thanks again for your generosity C2.

Overwhelming oak! Not my style, especially at $800 for a magnum.
