Loving this tonight. Last bottle, wish I had more. Cork was darkly stained with some smaller crystals but completely clean for most of the sides. Deep dark red color with beautiful flavors of dark fruit with some structure and plenty of finish. I'm not great with descriptions but I know I'm enjoying this bottle. I suspect it could have survived a few more years.

PNP: not much on nose initialy, but definintely expanded over half hour to a very pleasant earthy/ fruitiness. Lovely acid/fruit balance on palate. Tannins present but nicely intergrated. Not as full bodied as some cabs; such as the 05 Staglin we paired it with.I find the CT drinking window about right; probably will not improve but no need to rush to finish. This is somewhere between 92 and 93 for my palate. Very good QPR for Napa cab. PS: it paired great with ribs.

The Opener 2021 (The Ranch, WI): Very dark red color with a 3mm bricked edge. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 3 hours. This wine moved around a bit too. The nose takes a little time come around, starting with a lot of wood spice and overt dried wood, black currant, mushroom, subtle vanilla, light potpourri and herbs, and distinct black licorice. The nose is the highlight for me. The palate comes off a bit leaner, and my sense is this was probably a bit better a couple years ago. Black cherry, black currants, heavy wood influences, not a lot but more alcohol showing, licorice, well spiced, nice dry tannins on a medium plus body. Drink up. 92+ to 93pts.

Great dusty cherry, tannins have subsided. Forest floor, grilling herbs, mushrooms and a black currant note I really dig.
