Le nez est très expressif, mais la bouche fermée en début de dégustation, vin a besoin de quelques heures pour se développer, mais après ce délai il est excellent.

At DT's. Really evolved colour and great legs. I was taken aback by how ripe this tasted for a less than stellar vintage. Lovely rich black and red fruits integrating beautifully with those classic tertiary notes of Beaucastel (a bit of Brett?). This really surprised me. Beautiful drinking now and will survive a few more years.

Amane. My bottle, and while blown out of the water by the Rayas, this was actually quite good for a supposed off vintage. Initially there was quite a bit of menthol on the nose and finish, but then this subsides to a lot of secondary CdP notes with good fruit left and enough tannins to suggest this is at peak. No more than a B+ wine, and clearly lacking the power to stand up next to the Rayas (or the massive Rousseau!), but very pretty, especially with the curious menthol note that never quite went away. Drink up.

(Chateau Beaucastel) Floral nose with lots of black licorice, tar, mineral. Very aromatic. Seems much more mature on the nose than I would have thought. Just getting towards secondary land. After a while the cows came home and the barnyard was present .Soft and silky palate with gorgeous fruit .Not the most concentrated Beaucastel but very gulpable. I would give it five more years so you can get into that cool Beuacastel secondary and tertiary land.

This was a very pleasing Beaucastel. Nice depth and medium deep color. Classic Beaucastel notes. Long finish. Had much life left in it.

Very good balance for an off vintage. Really solid bottle and perhaps overperformed for the vintage.
