Alex's TWS dinner (Noizé, London): Medium tending to dark red. Distinctively grenache-based CNdP, you can guess it a mile off. Quite raisiny - plums and stewed fruit, with leather and spicey notes. A good swish brings out some menthol. As ever a touch of warmth that whilst not particularly intrusive I just wish it (and similar S Rhone wines) didn't have as I find myself a bit sensitive to it. This is at peak - I thought I had already drunk my case but it turns out I had two....best get going. I mean it's not going to fall off a cliff or anything but I don't see masses of upside.

I had hoped for more nose developments on the nose. But clear garnet, medium expressive nose, some tobacco, licorice and spice to the nose. Tannins are resolved and great balance through the finish.

GRAND TASTING #2: PnP w/2 hr. glass time. Clear, ruby/purple color. Med intensity nose. Ideal drinking window. Integrated, dark fruit profile, full body but not hot, aged, saddle, wet earth, tobacco, plum. Long resolved tannins. Classic CdP, nothing off.

Medium depth of colour, garnet; now tasting attractively mature, with flavours of fruitcake and some more savoury notes. Probably at its peak now.

This seems about right now, with flavours of a somewhat spirity fruit cake. Quite intense and with good length.
