Possibly a little past prime. The 2000 vintage got a lot of hype, but 2001 is better. Nose of oak and tar. Plenty of fruit remains but this was probably better five years ago. Low in acid (probably due to the hot vintage). This remains a very pleasant glass of wine, but if you have it in your cellar, drink up!

Dark fruits, vanilla, and a maple streak - potent nose. Carries over to the palate, with a very dark impression and finishing with fine but ample tannins and more of the sappy maple notes. Pushes the ripeness envelope while still managing to be interesting. Chewy. Bottle seems a bit advanced, but drinkable.
