  • In light of the most recent tasting note for this wine just over a year ago, a year seems to have done this wine a load of good. This is now approachable with a little air, although there's clearly still some integration to happen with more bottle age.

Popped and poured; left in the glass for 15 minutes before tasting.

Appearance: Light golden, leaning more to straw than to deeper hues. Medium legs with swirling.

Nose: Straight off the bat, loads of baker's yeast. Then a multitude of grapefruit; pink, white, and yellow are all distinct (impressive in itself!). White flowers, acacia honey, a little bit of struck match.

Palate: I didn't get a chance to taste this really young but even with 3+ years bottle age, the oak is nicely integrated. There's loads of flavorful fruit going on - peach, nectarine, but the standout that carries over from the nose is the grapefruit. I happen to love grapefruit so, to me at least, this is really delicious stuff. Some grilled nuts and honey. There's a little bit of warmth on the backend that should subside in time.

I'm really impressed with this. I find Jadot hit or miss with whites but this is really interesting without being fussy or needing more time in the cellar. I'm glad I have another 2 bottles to follow the evolution of this generous wine.

  • Taut and lean with classic '17 sweetness of apple and lemon fruit but clearly not fully integrated. Tightly-coiled and emphasizing finesse over power, I would give this a couple more years to fully come together. 90+

  • Louis Jadot Cellar Visit and Tasting (Day 11, Visit 4) (Beaune): Barrel tasting at Jadot. (Note: this is the Domaine Jadot bottling from Folatières proper.) Fat and round apple to start, more tart and minerally on finish. VG length. 90-92 point potential.
