I really enjoyed this unicorn wine, and I am not a fan of CdP or Grenache in general. I couldn't find much information about the '74 vintage in the Rhone, but am well aware that it was a disaster in Burgundy and Bordeaux, so expectations were not high. Rather light color and body, this is a very elegant, almost ephemeral wine. Not much on the nose, but the palate shows the confectioned cherry notes I associate with Grenache, along with lovely garrigue notes. Surprisingly, this was not a dying wine, as I opened it about 2h before pouring and each glass got better. This was so easy to drink, between the three of us the bottle did not last long.

Le Cinq Legends Dinner 2018 (Le Cinq Restaurant, George Cinq Four Seasons, Paris): Leaning more towards Grenache and strawberry flavors. Elegant and refined. No sense of overt maturity, very classic.
