First of a 3 bottle auction lot. Pnp'd and needed only about 15 min to start drinking well, but really blossomed after a 2 hour slow ox. 91-92 initially, 94 by the end.
Well aged red fruit, graphite, leather but not all that old for an '01. Interestingly, we had this surrounded by some Napa '19 cabs and an '89 Ch. Montrose. Just to show you how wines play off each other......when you sipped this one after the Montrose you got this jammy big fruit mouth full of flavors. When you tried it against the '19 Napa reds you would have sworn it was an old aged Bdx. Things that need to be taken into consideration when tasted at the same meet up!

This was just gorgeous. Lovely napa fruit that is just turning to show some age. Fully integrated with hints of aged oak and deep potting soil. Hard to pick apart the flavors, it's all just one thing. Structure fully coalesced.
Bought this bottle in 2005 from the winery for $115. I've had high expectations for this cab for the last 12 years and it did not disappoint. Opened for my birthday at Evvia and decanted for 1 hour. Perfectly aged, great fruit, long finish. Rich and full-bodied, with an explosive bouquet of macerated blackberry and cassis fruit, an opulent mid-palate, and a glorious finish with great purity, fruit, and glycerin. Dusty aromas of redcurrant and loam, lifted by a floral element. Supple, broad and quite dry; a sophisticated texture and intriguing floral tones. Seriously structured wine.
