Dark ruby color. Not a particularly nose, but some subtle earth and leather notes. Cherry notes, soft palate, but lacks complexity. Some suspended sediment towards end of bottle.

Because we read prior reviews, and thought it might need a long decanting, we ran it for three minutes in the iFAVINE (3 hours).
The wine is crimson colored with slight browning on the edges. The legs are heavy and slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. The nose was very muted, but smelled like black currant (cassis) and cherry kool-aid. It tastes like orange, black currant (cassis), blueberry, cherry, clove, rose-hips and a bit of a hot finish. The body is medium/light. The wine has angular texture. The wine has a medium finish and medium/ high acidity.

Red cherry, mixed with darker plum along with spices, tobacco and earth notes on the nose. Medium bodied (14.5% ABV) with bright red cherry upfront, gaining density as well as darker, more complex fruit notes through the mid-body. Good structure on the backside, but it's neatly joined with the fruit through the middle so they work together quite well. The longer it's open the more it deepened and the more the fruit overall moved to the blackfruit end of the spectrum. The tannin-based structure is such that this should be held for at least another 2-3 years. But after about two hours open, the complexity and depth of the fruit and the balance this wine already possesses suggests it will be well worth the wait. (Ristorante Virginiae; Rome, Italy)

Has a ton of life. Tight and earthy. 8 hours in the decanter it softened and rounded out beautifully. Very good QPR.
