96/01/08/13/14 Vertical. Lovely mature and evolved aromas of earth, dried cherry, mushroom with meaty spice. Palate is a little angular to start but smooths out with time in the glass. Not as refined as the younger vintages and just a bit more rustic than I'd like.

Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combes aux Moines Tasting (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): In 14/13/08/01/96 vertical. Great aromatic start with ripe black fruit, forest floor, braised meat and Boeuf Bourguignon spice. More mature on palate, and also slightly less excited or complete, but still certainly enjoyable. Started fading after an hour+ in glass. This was opened a couple of hours before serving, which might have been too long. Still, very good now.

Fourrier Dinner with Friends (Formento’s): Ripe and wonderfully mature black cherry aromas and flavors. Certainly enough concentration and density to stand up to the acidity and tannins of the ‘96 vintage, with overall good balance. Very good now, doubt there’s much upside from here.

2011 Casual Session - 18 @ Jade Palace (Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant, The Forum Shopping Mall, Orchard Road): It was sourish, lean and lack of fruits when popped and poured. Decanted for 60mins and this started to show what its got! Very perfume sweet cherry on the nose that surrounded by plenty of floral scents, especially roses along with dried tea leave, earth, anise and meatiness, very enticing and focus. I'm surprised! Very complete and lush on the palate too, with modest scale of a 1er Cru but this has the harmonious and precision of a Grand cru! The acid is on the high side at first that inherited from the vintage, but with time the underlying sweet fruits surface and hit the perfect balance point with fine grained tannin leads to the medium length finish with detail that linger with sweet plum. earth and meatiness. Very delicious!

This was so deep and fragrant, with layers of silky liquorice and blackberry fruit, and a saltiness that lifted it - exciting
