Youll never confuse Far Niente with anything from Burgundy or just about all the better Sonoma Chardonnays. Being from Napa, it hows more brawn to it than any of those. Its very well balanced and complex. Oak, butter, citrus, melons and pears are all in the mix. The finish is very long. This is a very young wine, consumed over two evenings, with the second night better than the first. Its delicious right now, but will be even better in a year or two.

Pale yellow. Pineapple and fresh citrus accompanied by sweet-tart Braeburn apples. Zero oak. Needs some time to open. Perhaps a little too much of niente.

Pop & poured. Drinking great straight out of the bottle. It seems the Far Niente style is becoming more and more of a tropical fruit oak bomb with each passing vintage.

Far Niente's 2022 Napa Chardonnay is a light golden wine with aromatics that fully open 30-60 minutes after popping the cork, at which time it unfurls an intense array of citrus, apricots, Bartlett pears, honeysuckle and wet stones. Medium-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (14.3%) and with proportionate oak, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose and has good mid-palate density. Concluding long and crisp, this is a beautifully balanced Chardonnay and an outstanding effort from Far Niente. Drink now-2030.
