A great Barolo with a unique flavor profile. Not sure how to describe it, but maybe: herby, grassy, medicinal, a big dose of something that might be cardamom, and lots of soil. Great wine that got better after an hour or two. No oak that I can detect. Old school.

~6 hour decant. Still a pup but this was spot on after the decant. Effusive, refined nose of violets, licorice and black cherry. The palate is concentrated but so silky. Just starting to express some complexity and nuance. Better in 5+ years.

~8 hour decant. Side by side with the '99. This was more taut than the '99 but started to open up a bit around hour 12 after opening. Very much in the Bartolo mold with uber-classic and restrained styling. Beams of red cherry, new leather and florals. Fairly lean and tense. Better in 10-15 years. One for the ages. Upside from here.

Barolo big guns (Wine bar): A good wine. Not overly complex but very good value and shows nice regional qualities. An enjoyable drink but not exciting.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $60+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Brownish red core with light rim; dried cherries, wilted roses, meaty, slight hoisin; brilliant texture, silky, good acid; should be in a good spot for a long time.
