Drank this at a wine dinner with my wine mates at Kam Boat Teochew Restaurant. Theme of the evening: Wines that start with the letter Y.
Another highlight of the dinner. Gold in colour with amazing balance and acidity. Sweetness countered by fruits, body in harmony with the elements. Apricot, peaches, nectar, honey wax.
What more can one ask from the wine? Amazing. Simply amazing.
Opulent nose of marmalade, runny honey, orange peel, almonds, with wafts of pie crust and baking spice. Rich and concentrated with a full bodied mouthfeel - there is an effortless sense of balance, but this is definitely on the richer side. Better on day two. 94+

Good vintages of Yquem (Chicago, IL): A huge stylistic difference between this and the 2011 alongside -- whereas the 2011 was very much fruit-driven, this was far more botrytis driven, showing plenty of the typical marmalade and bitter orange that you would expect. A good analogue here is the 1983. This is a relatively opulent edition for the post Lur-Saluces era, and it's definitely one that really appeals to my taste and desire for that older, high-oak style. Excellent, and I am very much curious to see where this goes with time.

Hey now, what a beauty!! This is a sumptuous Y'quem.
Complex and then some... what an orchestra of flavors! Peach, apricot, orange, burnt orange, orange marmalade, almond, creme brulee, Grand Marnier (!!!!), grapefruit, fresh acidity and then repeat all. Went on and on.
Still young and will only get better but still delivers great pleasure today.
Bravo
