A great damp cellar characteristic on the nose, alongside mushroom, polished wood, spicy wood. Great creamy richness on the palette, like custard. Sweet lemon on the tip of the tongue. Very different to the last time I had this label. Better a little for me.

Pours a deep gold. Those all so familiar and reassuring aromas of wood spice, sandalwood, fino - dry sherry - blanched almonds, marzipan, and damp mushrooms inside a brown paper bag. Dense, concentrated, and long. Oscillating between richness and austerity. Does this ever disappoint?

The aroma is all encompassing, rich, and ever enduring. Notes of bees wax, cheese rind, butter, flowers, and a soft apple-like acidity. The mouthfeel is rich and oily. Opens creamy, butter and hazelnuts. Then comes acidity, bitterness, but the creaminess lingers. Astonishing!

PnP and consumed over a couple of days. Trademark LdH white profile, mature and intense flavors, dried peaches on palate, profound, oily, very complex, mouth coating, and adjectives could go on... It's a great wine and it's the whites where LdH shines the most. Outstanding and still a bargain at 40€. Very enjoyable now and could last more years.

A year after the prior, and our sixth of this lovely vintage: Fabulous again. And once more, a cornucopia of flavors — including creamy savory marzipan — backed up with fabulous acidity. What an amazing creature, extremely enjoyable over four nights.
