2011 Simple Series X: Mark in town (Asia Grand @ Odeon Tower): Alcohol :: 15% Dark ruby red. Similar to the Beaujolais, this too is very high tone with cherry cola, perhaps more intense and darker fruits with mint, vanilla, spice and capsicum, really not bad but this come across as pungent as hint of alcohol puke out. Rich, straightforward, but very concentrated with dark plum, blackcurrant fruits that wrapped in a creamy package. Very easy on the palate and flow to the medium length finish with vanilla, bitter cocoa and mineral aftertaste that showed a little bit of austerity too.

2011 Simple Series VIII: Dinner with Mark Roberson of Goedhuis (again) (Asia Grand, Odeon Towers): An impressive Barbera. Still young, still primary and rather modern, but it was certainly a good wine. I liked the nose - a bit of oak, sweet blackberries, cherries, a waft of Italian herbs - nice, ripe, a bit modern, but very attractive. The palate carried on where the nose left off, with flavours of sweet berries and cherries wrapped in a bit of oak, a touch of sweet rosemary and then some spice at the finish. Again, fleshy, ripe, but it was very well-balanced and nicely structured with a touch of fine tannins. I enjoyed this, and it should be even better in a few years' time.

Black. Sweetish nose reminiscent of a new-world wine. Plenty of tannins and extract. Tasted very modern to me. Well-made wine for sure but not classic.

Tasted at the winery. Only posting on wines I liked best. No notes, just a score in my notebook. I remember really liking this young Barbera.
