Riesling tasting with the EBLC (SLC): drank from a half bottle. Comes off even sweeter than an auslese, I wouldn't be surprised if it is actually closer to BA ripeness. Very rich, gold in color with a lot of body. Has a very nice floral aspect to it, but also pineapple, honey and tropical fruit. I'm not getting the slate aromas I'd expect, but possibly just being over run by the fruit and honey notes. Delicious, but kind of lacking that sense of place that Selbach often show so well.

#19-09, 7.5% abv. From half bottle. The last of six purchased a few years ago. This seems to be a lot more golden in colour than I remember it in the past. A fruit-dominated nose that mostly shows white peach, with very little sulphur, petrol, or mineral elements at all. The palate strikes me as somewhat flat and dull too, showing some elements of sweetness but not much else. The acidity and structure don't seem to be there at all. I may have caught this at a bit of an awkward moment, but as it stands now, this is a wholly uninspiring and foursquare bottle of riesling.

Really enjoyed this both nights - nose of dried fruit and flower, lots of white fruit, marmalade and hint of petrol in the mouth, and then this very long finish. Yum.

#19-09, 7.5% abv. From half bottle. Slightly advanced nose with a good dose of gasoline, lychee, and spice. There's really nothing left on the palate -- just a bunch of sweetness. Where's the minerality and acidity? Flabby and boring, this is nothing like my previous bottles. Meh.

Wednesday Night WTDS (Corner Table, Mpls): Medium gold color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Pear and nectarine fruit, a bit flabby, sweet, ripe fruit.
