  • Was kept upright for a day, decanted for two hours, cellared at 60 degrees for many years. Held up beautify with dark purple color, nice nose in glass and slight tannins. Was surprised when filtered into decanter, not much residue.

  • Very unfairly tasted side by side with 1970 Croizet Bages and 1982 Batailley. In comparison, this was hard, simple, and a bit common. Nevertheless, probably fine on it's own, and owing to the dark purple color and firm tanin, will likely improve for a decade or more.

  • From a mag. Short decant for sediment. Beautifully deep red color with no bricking. Nose of cassis, green pepper and tobacco and consistent on the palate. Medium plus length finish with more black fruit and some cedar. Fully resolved tannins, moderate ABV and medium plus acidity. Nice example of this wine. Drink now especially if you have any in 750.

  • Good QPR. Drank from a Magnum, PNP. All of the tannins are fully integrated. No decanting needed. After all of these years, there is still a nice aroma of blueberries and cassis. On the palate there are flavors of dark fruit with a tinge of cocoa. The wine has a nice mouthfeel, although the finish is short as one would expect. In the Magnum format, this wine still has a little life left, but it is definitely time to drink if you have any remaining. It will only last another year or two.

  • Poured from a magnum. Bricking on the rim, this went through a four hour decant. Upon opening the wine was closed down on the nose and palate. The best wine was a glass after the wine had been open for about 5 hours. The wine was served with brisket, and the pairing went well. This had aromas of cedar, incense, and sandalwood with lighter cassis. On the palate this has slightly sweet and dusty tannins. The secondary characteristics are primary including cedar and tobacco, with lighter roasted dark cherry. This has a modest finish with a bit of iron.

The wine had very little sediment and a good neck fill. Overall this paired well with the meal, but I am glad we did not wait longer to consume. I would drink up soon.
