Golden straw colored. Fat. Well developed aroma's of peach, pear, apricot, lychee and toast. Elegant flavors of ripened mango, melon, peach, and lychee. Full bodied. Buttery smooth texture and a great finish.

Flowers, honey, candy, pear and white peach in the bouquet. Same on the palate. Nicely dry but also some sweet impressions. Some bitterness in the finish. A very ok wine, but not the complexity I hoped for.

This wine was tasted together with Georges Vernay's "Terrases de l' Empire" Condrieu. I repeat the notes I made six months ago: "Definitely the best Greek Viognier and very close in style with Condrieu, lots of extract, sweet exotic fruit, florality hints of minerals and an underlying lime/lemon backbone. Very long and capable of ageing. Fantastic almost full bodied white." Now that I had it side by side with a benchmark Condrieu I can say that this wine is almost on the same level of quality - and regional differences are minimal: Gerovassiliou's style is very close to Condrieu. Yet the nose was less polished and focused and although fuller bodied than "Empire" its acidity was less. This does not mean the wine was flabby, just that the higher acidity was more welcome. To be fair one would have to compare Gerovassiliou's wine with one of the other two Condrieu cuvees Vernay makes as I suspect that Gerovassiliou uses as much oak as these cuvees and much more than the "Empire" cuvee.

Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" 2012-?; A mixed set (@ RG): Special bouquet, oak, tropical fruits and citrus. On the palate good white fruits like pears, yellow fruits, good acidity and something salty. Round mouth feel. Pleasant wine.
