  • My WOTN at a ‘09 themed dinner including some top Bordeauxs and Champagnes. Beautiful sandalwood and game nose. Generous stewed strawberry palate and long finish. Easy 94-95

  • The depth of this wine is truly incredible. The red fruits are just sweet enough and the tannins resolved at this point. The wine is drinking beautifully now with a long way to go. Another tour de force from Mounir.

  • This wine has opened up a bit more since my last tasting. Cherries and spices. Great energy supported by firm acidity. The tannins are fine and gentle. This wine does not show the darkness common to 2009, and stays in the red fruit profile. Everyone liked the bottle that I opened at a recent blind tasting. 94+ for me as it matures.

  • Lucien Le Moine's 2008s are tannic and backward right now, so it was a relief to find this 2009 aromatic and approachable. Flowers, cherries, minerals, animale notes, and smoke. I don't see the muskiness that I have seen in many other wines from this and other grand cru vineyards in 2009. The wine remains minerally and classical in style and sweet and long. This will benefit from cellaring, naturally, but the tannins are not very abrasive, and one could enjoy a bottle over dinner right now.

  • Decanted, as recommended by the Domaine. Cloudy garnet red, not so dark but very cloudy. Complex nose of mostly red fruit, spices with a distinctive animalic touch, very popular with the dinner group tonight. Medium bodied, present but soft tannins, good freshness. Quite evolved (not sure whether this is just the bottle or the wine). Oak noticeable, not really your typical bright red fruit kind of burg but well made and aromatically interesting. This bottle was not nearly as good as the outstanding 2012 and 2013.
