Well rounded and relaxed a very positive example of NSG. Distinctive yet restrained power abound within the wine. A barny nose opening to deep ripe smells as the wine opens. Clear color with very little marking of age. A pleasant refreshing flavor with broad tastes of ripe juicy fruit, farm, slight minerality merged well with a refreshing feel on the palate.

Ruby red nose of raspberry and red berries with wet stone and a hint of iron. The bottle was not decanted and there was some brett upon opening but smell went away after 10 min. Medium body on palate full of tart red fruits like raspberries and cranberries supported by trace minerals. Very satisfactory medium finish. Surprised at the primary nature of palate and expected more secondary flavors and even some tertiary flavors. Should maybe wait another 10 more years for further evolution. Instead there was a touch of iron and toast on nose but that's it.

Samuel Smith & Sons and Negociants 2011 New Release Tasting (Marriot on Pitt Street, Sydney): Nose: slight toast, mineral over red fruit then spice and cedar and oak.
Mouth: bitter and astringent but with enough red fruit there to make it work in a few years. Long finish and balanced medium plus acidity. Nice
