Another Soiree with superb lamb ribs and mushroom risotto started with a lovely 75 WB Black Label. A wine that i have not enjoyed in the past and consider them over priced and out of balance and incapable of competing with similar pedigree wines. So the first Black Label for me for at least 25 years. It was slow to open showing its advanced years but it did do a slight "invert" and opened into a lovely balanced red fruited savory but sweet wine. A blend of Cabernet and Shiraz and Jimmy Watson winner ( which as i have stated before i do not regard it as a significant award) but nonetheless this was singing. Not going to improve any further and on the slow decline so drink up but a lovely lovely wine. Surpassed on the day by a stunning 1965 Yalumba Bin Q Cabernet ( 96 pts) , 2001 Rockford SVS (96pts) Pressings and 2002 Kalleske greenock Shiraz ( 95 pts) but do let this detract from its enjoy-ability. Thx Chaps

Jimmy Watson trophy winner. Very nice 40 years later, lots of oak.
