  • This was good, but really still seemed on the young side; nose with ripe dark fruits, wood spice, floral, a bit of earthy humus. Palate is big and powerful, tannins still noted, but not obtrusive; improves with air and food and becomes longer and more balanced. Probably better in another 5-10 years.

  • Medium body. Slight browning, with cloudy robe, suggesting this may not have been clarified. Nose and palate of dark berries and spice. Everything in great balance and drinking beautifully. Secondary/tertiary flavor profile. Nice complexity and finish.

  • Decanted 1hr30. Ripe, fruity nose - lashings of brambles, ripe raspberries, gentle notes of violet with a real tang of sous bois and light truffle. Excellent. Palate is medium weight with fresh acidity and lovely ripe tannic bite. Plenty of truffle, lavender, ripe wild strawberry. Very good. Drinking very well now but with years ahead of it. Drink now-2030.

  • Immediately ready to go! Just a great bottle - spicy, exotic, a little woody, a touch of game and plenty of succulent dark fruit. Full-bodied with compensating acidity, so a great pair with Christmas lunch. No sense at all of burliness or heat - maybe my favourite 2009 so far.

  • Double decanted back to bottle & took to dinner. Opened well over the course of 2-3 hours, drunk with 4-5 other Gevery. Enticing, full, modestly earthy nose with subtle Asian spice & cured game. Satisfying, dark, mostly blue fruited palate well balanced by structure & acid. Drinking quite well now, and likely 4-5 more years.
