Flinty with sulfur and matchstick. Lemons and limes. Fresh and vibrant creamy and buttery. Perfect balance and great use of oak. ROTM. Long finish with caramel, lemon and custard. Quality at the village level.

A beautifully drinking wine that I now wish I had focused on more intently after opening the bottle. Served with an assortment of cheeses after a long winter's hike. The wine seamlessly blended into the fireside setting among friends. I suppose that is the ultimate salute to a very nice bottle of wine but a bit lazy on my part. My only bottle and now I wish I had a few more to watch it evolve over time. I would gather the wine had at least 5 years left in its window.

We both enjoyed this but I was surprised to see tropical fruit flavors along with the green apple, cream, popped corn and oak notes. Fairly rich but offset with a lot of salty mineral goodness.

Olivier Leflaive Dinner with Jean Soubeyrand (Chez Patrick Restaurant, 2/F, Garden East, 222 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong): Still a silvery-gold colour but less so than the preceding Montagny 1er Cru. Nose is...gosh...a big jump up from the Montagny......high piano notes. Palate of lemony sharpness and very refined. Medium weight. Very drinkable indeed. Very little evidence of the normal oak you would expect....it's just 15% new oak and the rest is 3 years' old. It just lacks length....but great QPR.
