We joined the Winemaker's Tour, which included a walk through several vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet followed by a visit to the winery and lunch at Le Maison Olivier Leflaive. We tasted this wine during a most excellent and very liquid lunch. A bit sharp. Not a winner.

La Maison D'Olivier Leflaive Visit; 8/7/2014-8/9/2014 (Place du Monument, 21 190, Puligny-Montrachet): Light green gold. Nose is muted, unsalted melted butter and finely judged light oak. Palate is more weighty than the preceding Mersault, surprisingly. Lovely cutting acidity with the signature Chassagne-Montrachet fresh-baked lemons, great chalky and mineral finale. Light resonance and some reverberance. Super for a villages wine. Will improve with 2-3 years.

Domaine Leflaive Visit (Puligny-Montrachet): An immediately pleasing and accessible white burgundy. More honeyed and more tropical on the nose than the Puligny Enseigneres tasted alongside, and more plush on the palate also but not lacking structure either.

Rich and creamy with little oak influence...obviously, aged for a period of time with the elegance is illustrates. Apple, honey, and and minerality highlight this beautiful chardonnay finishing slightly smokey.

Tasty, salinity, stoney, vanilla cream with yellow apple, slight lemon and unripe pineapple. Slight honeyed note. Wish I had a couple more.
