  • So… my tasting note from 11/23 on this wine is still spot on. It’s crazy, but this wine needs air so the limited amount of fruit that is left can emerge. It gets better after about an hour or two. Normaly, aeration kills the fruit in old wines., That said, this wine is hanging on by a thread so drink up. Mostly black English tea, leather, a touch of barnyard and some tobacco.

  • Perfect cork. Initial impression was that this was a touch past its prime. Brick red color, muted fruit, earthy notes, dry tannin. Two hours after opening, the fruit and wonderful tertiary aromas began to emerge in the glass. While the drying tannin was still present, this evolved into an elegant lady by the end of the evening. I guess after being stuck in the bottle for > 30 years, she just needed a few hours to get dressed and put on some make-up for the Thanksgiving Ball.

  • This shows a vibrant ruby with slight bricking. The wine transitions between rustic earth-driven scents of mushroom and forest floor into dried red fruits and hints of roses in a very suave and regal fashion. On the palate there is a volley between vibrant red fruits and porcini mushrooms. This wine still has plenty of life left in it; there's a beautiful balance between the body and acidity. Nearly weightless in the mouth with an intense flavor profile that had me feeling guilty for wanting to take the last of it from the decanter.

  • Sweet raspberries, scented, heavenly. Mouth earthy, almost rough, firm fruit, long red tail, juicy. At 45m, warm, soft scented nose. Delicate earthy mouth, still slightly rough. Lovely. Later v earthy, some fruit but never pure and singing. Ripe, juicy, cusp of old and new.
