Lovely black cherry on the nose initially. Fresh herbs. Ça pinote. Bit of a piney edge. Lots of glycerin on the palate. Nice fruit, very ripe but well balanced, plenty of acidity. Appetising. That slightly piney character again. A fairly simple but delicious wine.

My 50th birthday lunch (Restaurant The Fat Duck ***, Bray-on-Thames, UK): Mature but lively appearance; classic Côte de Beaune nose, lightly honeyed, warm yet delicate, whiff of flowers, nutty warmth and underbrush, lovely depth; intense yet delicate palate, creamy texture, crushed red fruit, gentle tannins, pure and elegant, precise flavours; very good resonance and length.

Popped and poured. This is a translucent cherry-red wine. On the nose, I get pine, raspberry, strawberry, and some slight smoke. In the mouth, this has good structure, with cherry and sap flavors predominating. The finish is zesty and mouthwatering, bringing the drinker back for more. Overall, this is an alluring wine, one with an initial sense of purity that ultimately pulls through the finish. This is in a terrific spot right now -- I would drink in the next 3-4 years. 91 points.

Lots of density and complexity. Flavour profile quite savoury, meaty. Touch of minty notes.
Slightly muddled on the finish?
