Community Tasting Notes (10) Avg Score: 92.1 points

  • Almost 4 years since my last bottle and this wine is still showing well. Pnp. Still a dark garnet with a thin clear rim, almost no browning. The nose is the best of this wine in my eyes, Cab dominated with a nice depth of dark fruit but also a touch of not entirely ripe green capsicum. On the palate this is rich, ripe and soft, bordering on burned fruit and tar, here its more the Merlot and Shiraz that is dominating, nice but not particularly deep or complex. The finish then is again dry with the tannins poking out a bit too.
Gave this 10 more years iof drinking n 2020 and still think this will be best in the next 5 years given the rich fruit, before starting a gentle and gradual decline as the structure does not seem to be there for the very long haul. Nevertheless well done for the hot 07 Tuscany vintage. Nose 92, palate 90.

  • 9 months since my last bottle, this is again showing very well. Pnp. Opens up with plenty of animal notes and great acidity, later joined by red and dark fruit, and with about 40 min of air also notes of leather and tobacco. Fine but sandy tannins. Great wine, especially for the hot 2007 vintage in Tuscany, will certainly last for another 10 years.

  • Pnp and drank over 45 min. This wine has developed a fair bit since my last bottle two years ago. The tannins have softened and leather and tobacco notes are emerging on the palate. I would drink this over the next few years as this is in the second half of its drinking window. Will not fall off the cliff anytime soon, but don't see any upside in holding either.

  • Très beaux nez expressif, bouquet d'arômes tertiaires. Très conventionnel en bouche: c'est bien équilibré, mais il manque l'émotion et la persistance des grands vins. Argiano travaille mieux le sangiovese...

  • Dark ruby. Expressive nose of dark fruit with lots of French Oak. Good volume on the palate, fruit and tannin in check. I wish for less oak for a higher score, but then again that is the typical Super Tuscan style of that era.
