medium deep red-purple color, nose completely shut down with the barest murmurs of oak and spice, on the palate sedate with a fine smooth blue and red berry fruit, dried leaves, good minerality, fine length, while this has a bit of a modern feel- it does not seem like that mentality had quite taken full hold yet at Haut-Brion in the 2010 vintage, the wine is very approachable but in deep hibernation at present- so patience is stronly advised.

United Cellars Bordeaux dinner (The Gidley, King Street, Sydney): Medium plus intensity aromas of savoury blackberry, brambles over blackcurrant, cedar, cigar box, touch of pencil shavings and crushed rock, smells quite 'fresh'. Medium plus intensity acidity provides that freshness, softly engaging tannic burr persists long, black over red fruit, quite plummy and brambly. though the tannins are in the ascendency the fruit is very much present. Very nice. Very 'on-point' with current Bordeaux wine making trends so, as it's a 2010, this is actually ahead of the curve.

Took a little time to open up. Very nice wine. Elegant, well balanced, and complex.

Beautiful and opened up after a 2-3 hour decant.

Still too young... needs 5 more years at least. Fruit seemed too black bordering chocolaty.
