Classical bdx. Nose is dark berries, Cedar, some chocolate. Palate of cassis, tea leaves. Tannins well melded. Good drinking now though it could last a few more years. MB MA LT MF

Delicious with complex and expressive notes of cedar, licorice, tea leaves, subdued black currants, warm brick/earth on the nose, smooth and round with cool fruit and good power and length, and a sappy anise and mineral infused finish.

Spectacular wine that is drinking perfectly now. Classic Bordeaux with haunting notes of dark cherries, dirt and wood smoke on the nose. Big, meaty body with distinct charcoal and graphite notes. Fabulous and well worth the wait!

I have fond memories of tasting the 2005 LCHB at the UGC in 2006; it was one of the few wines that, to my relatively untrained BDX palate, had freshness and did not feel over extracted. The 2004 is still young, slightly overburdened by oak, and (hopefully) 5 years away from emerging out of a tough adolescence. There is good solid dark berry fruit and minerality at the core of its structure. I suspect that the 05 is in a similar spot, but may have to test that hypothesis soon.
