(Kruger-Rumpf Münsterer Rheinberg Riesling Kabinett) ($25.00) Ah, 97° Oechsle. I mean, good grief. Since it is a Spätlese, and a “star” Spät at that, it needs more RS than in lighter vintages. There’s some tonka-bean sponti aromas; a large-scaled tangy appley palate, granular and fibrous. You get a 1-2 class upgrade to a lovely (and not all that sweet) Spät.

Oh my goodness this is good. Unlike many others in this vintage suffering from premix this is bright and fresh and really hasn’t budged an inch since purchase. I will revisit in 5-10 or else I will drink the rest before it’s prime. A remarkable wine with just there right balance between acid and sweetness. Wow.

Another excellent bottle. Amazing how fresh this still is. It has hardly evolved at all. Great acidity, apple and apricot, long finish. Wish I had more than one bottle left.

UNP. Still extremely youthful with dense acidity and RS. Still shows great balance between these and lengthy finish. Blind would have guessed at least spat if not auslese because of the density. Looking forward to watching this evolve.
