  Surprisingly light color for its age; this is straw to light gold. The nose is very fruit-forward, with nectarine and lime zest. The palate is zesty and medium-full, really refreshing in the context of the vintage, but certainly Spätlese in weight. The finish shows some slightly bitter grapefruit notes. This is nice enough, but not very interesting. It seems unevolved still and will probably continue to develop for quite some time. But will it develop any complexity? Not so sure.

The palate is on the lighter side (for '05) and has a load of (albeit buffered) acidity to complement the yellow apple flavor and mineral extract. But good to have one that pays homage to its Prädikat; I expect that with a little bit of time the sweetness will back off to reveal a nice crisp Kabinett.
