Surprisingly light color for its age; this is straw to light gold. The nose is very fruit-forward, with nectarine and lime zest. The palate is zesty and medium-full, really refreshing in the context of the vintage, but certainly Spätlese in weight. The finish shows some slightly bitter grapefruit notes. This is nice enough, but not very interesting. It seems unevolved still and will probably continue to develop for quite some time. But will it develop any complexity? Not so sure.

Beginning to show more white peach aromas, fruit on the palate beginning to relax and display some early maturity. It's a broader wine on the palate due to the vintage character, but the acidity is still rather brisk. Should continue to age into maturity for a good while, but may never develop a lot of complexity.

A stony character gives way to floral and citrus scents on the nose. The palate is on the lighter side (for '05) and has a load of (albeit buffered) acidity to complement the yellow apple flavor and mineral extract. The finish is quite long for the level and mostly reprises some hints sour apple from the palate. A nice, but not very complex wine right now. But good to have one that pays homage to its Prädikat; I expect that with a little bit of time the sweetness will back off to reveal a nice crisp Kabinett.
