Initial: A mix of mature and youthful character. Rich notes of dried cherries, plums, and figs mingle with floral hints like violets and roses. Developing: As the wine opens up, subtle earthy nuances emerge, including truffles, undergrowth, and forest floor. Hints of leather, tobacco, and balsamic may also appear. Palate:
Medium-bodied: The wine strikes a balance between power and elegance. Fruit: Mature red fruit flavors remain at the core, supported by hints of spice like black pepper and clove. Acidity: Bright and refreshing, keeping the palate engaged and preventing the wine from feeling heavy. Tannins: Fine-grained and well-integrated, offering structure without being harsh. Finish: Long and lingering, with echoes of fruit, spice, and earth. Overall:
Complex and nuanced: This wine rewards careful attention, revealing new layers with each sip. Balanced: Despite its richness, the acidity and tannins keep everything in harmony. Elegant: True to the Barbaresco style, this wine is more feminine and refined than its Barolo counterpart. Evolving: At 16 years old, the 2008 Rabajà is drinking beautifully but still has the potential to age further.

Interesting mix of aged and young, with slow and steady evolution, cherry and earthiness combined with vibrant acidity; developing noticeable pepperiness over dinner. Complex and fascinating.

More or less the same experience as my last bottle a year+ ago. The tannin and acidity is a little less pronounced this time though, medium to medium+. It still delivers dark fruit, especially dark cherries, and the earthy notes are maybe a little more pronounced this time. A hint of menthol can be added as well. The aftertaste is quite intense and keeps going for a while. Still a 93, but it's probably at its peak now and maybe even on the way down.

Two Bruno Rocca: Nose: A bit muted. Dark tar, rose, cherry. Spice. Palate: Similar to the nose with more black plum. Silky mouth feel, a polished touch with precise acidity. Medium finish. As wined warmed up, a little alcoholic heat poked out on the finish.

A very good wine, close to its peak probably, but could be kept in the cellar a little longer as well. I think I'm gonna start drinking mine now though. The tannin and acidity are notable but do not affect the general balance of the wine in a negative way at all. It delivers a lot of dark fruit, earthy essences and tobacco. A good balance and strong aftertaste. All in all a very good experience.
