fantastic nose of bright fruit and spiced earth per the usual MO of Leroy but 98 rears its head. The initial attack is filled with crunchy red fruit but then you feel this hollowness on the mid palate, a little muddled on the high toned red fruit flavors but the texture of the wine was silky smooth and went down easy. When I was drinking the wine I thought of the wine as a circle of flavor and texture with a hole in the middle.

Friday after Thanksgiving (FAT) (Palm Beach Gardens FL): Tasting, brief note. Charming red and black cherry aromas, nicely perfumed. Tough to fairly assess given I had the last pour, which gave this a slightly woodsy finish.

Dinner at Home with Friends (My House, Chicago IL): Opened about 2 hours before serving. A dark red/almost black cherry and berry fruit profile with some meaty spice and great earth notes. Typical Leroy floral, but not as much as the previous wines tonight. Relatively fruit forward on the palate with some good mineral structure. Medium body and finish. Nice acidity with well integrated tannins. Quite good.
Really good Leroy, as are all of her '98s that I've had. High pitched red fruits and earthy-tones. Very red for Gevrey. Great body and fullness without being heavy, well-integrated fine structure. Very good.

Friday after Thanksgiving II (Palm Beach Gardens, FL): Dark fruits. A bit muddy and brambly, which takes away from the typical Leroy detail.
