this bottle was on point. Great freshness and vivacity, with some appropriate development to create a lifted and complex mouthful from the get go. Better than last time where it seemed to be advancing and perhaps that was bottle condition as that one was from a different source

Drank next to an 01 BM, a 99 CSD, and a 76 Roche. I thought the 00 was most ready from the get go with beautiful aromatics, though compared to the others it was fairly open knit, and unlike prior experiences it stayed on it’s plateau rather than improving. The 01 was the most closed initially, but then unfurled as the night went on, and the 99 CSD the most seductive and well rounded today. The 76 was in great shape, and beautifully perfumed, with secondary/tertiary notes, though the palate was a little clipped and it faded a bit over time (with no decant)
Very effusive aromatics, the red and dark cherry fruit was much less structured compared to the 01 (to be expected), but also compared to prior tastings. Not sure if that’s a one off, or if 00 is developing on a faster curve. It’s in a very enjoyable place

Bursts from the glass with macerated black cherry, dried herbs, stem spice and potpourri florals. Smooth as silk palate with fresh mid-weight fruit, lively acidity, and refined tannins. Delicious sweet and savory finish. At peak and should hold for a decade+

(Domaine Dujac Bonnes Mares) Dark cherry red color with pale meniscus; rich, ripe cherry, black cherry, spice, mineral nose, with depth; very tasty, tart cherry, ripe cherry, mineral, sous bois, tart raspberry palate with depth; long finish 96+ pts.
(Dujac Bonnes-Mares) The nose is wide and surprisingly mineral with understated red fruits - no obvious stems showing here. In the mouth the personality is of a medium-bodied red-fruited wine with tannin that’s hardly worth a mention. Despite its very understated acidity it is both long finishing and not a little mouth-watering. I found this a very good and very approachable wine, though several steps below the quality I might expect given the pricing of more recent vintages.

The Roots Fund Charity Wine Dinner (Atelier - Chicago IL): All red fruited aromas and flavors. Fully mature, well spiced with a near sweet note, added nuance from a touch of earth. Very good now.

The Roots Fund - Chicago Fundraising Dinner (Atelier - Chicago, IL): One of the wines of the night. Spectacular typical Dujac stem spice aromas leap from the glass. The palate has good power but quite approachable and refined in this vintage. Long, silky finish.
